The Ferrer family, owners of Freixenet, has made sparkling wines for over 100 years in Sant Sadurni d'Anoia, Penedés, Spain.
Now with the third and fourth generations of family members in leadership positions, the Ferrers are expanding their winery portfolio beyond their six sparkling houses around the world. They began pursuing opportunites in Spain several years ago. They saw grand potential in the mosiac of Spanish terroirs, coupled with new investement, modern technology and a young, contemporary winemaking team.
"During the last three years, we've changed our goals to to include possible acquisitions and partnerships that will extend and complement our current line of cavas. Our selection of wines has been painstaking and discriminating. We don't anticipate that the Heredad Collection will represent high volume, but we expect that it will reinforce our image as a producer of fine wines".
