The Vionta estate is in the heart of Galicia, a green jewel tucked into the northwest corner of Spain, bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the north and west, Portugal on the south and the rugged mountains of the Cordillera Cantábrica on the east.
Set among the verdant greenery are a small number of low-yielding vineyards, with the most important in the Rias Baixas (REE-us BAJ-us) Denominación de Origen (DO). It is rain-swept and often foggy, without extremes of temperature - neither too hot in summer nor too cold in winter.

Because this excess moisture leads to abundant vegetation, Galicia is often called España Verde or Green Spain. With its rocky coastline, punctuated by rías, fjord-like fingers of sea that often extend far inland, its isolated mountain villages and lush landscape, Rias Baixas is one of the most beautiful places in Europe.
